What is Keyword Analyzer?

Keyword Analyzer is a keyword research tool that can:

Help you find out who your top competitors are, what factors influence their Google rankings and what you need to do to outrank them.
Help you find keywords you can rank for as well as keywords you should avoid.
Provide you with a Keyword Difficulty Score, giving you an indication of how easy or hard it would be to rank for the analyzed keyword.
Provide you with a variety of useful metrics for the analyzed keyword such as search volume, cost per click, search volume trends, PPC competition, and much more.

How to Use Keyword Analyzer?

Keyword Analyzer is located in the Keyword Research section, in the TOOLS menu.

To analyze a new keyword, click on the blue + button located at the top right, which will open up a search form. Enter the keyword or phrase you want to analyze and select a database that you want to run your search on. You can choose between Google.com, Google.co.uk, Google.fr and many other Google databases. You can also enter the URL of the page you are trying to rank for this keyword, so that the tool will provide you with the metrics for the URL you entered. This way you can then compare your metrics with that of your competitors’, and see how close or how far you are from them.

Click on Analyze Competition and you will be shown the results, which include a lot of useful metrics on the analyzed keyword, including the Search Volume, PPC Competition, Cost Per Click, Average SERPed Rank of the Top 10 results in Google for this keyword, Average Social Signals, Average Page Authority, Average Trust Flow and Traffic Value.

The Keyword Analyzer will also provide you with a Keyword Difficulty Score, which indicates how easy or hard it would be to rank for this keyword. This score is determined by an analysis of relevant data obtained from the keyword analyzer and then calculated to provide the Keyword Difficulty Score. The higher this score is, the more difficult it will be to rank for.

Below the Keyword Difficulty Score, you can see the Top 10 results in Google for this keyword, in the Google database that you selected in the search form. For each result, you will be able to see the SERPed Rank, Similarweb Rank, number of social signals, MozRank, Domain Authority and Page Authority, number of backlinks, number of referring domains, number of .gov links, number of .edu links, as well as the Citation Flow and Trust Flow from Majestic.

In addition to the Keyword Difficulty Score, you can also look at the color of the little circle next to the analyzed keyword for a quick indication of the level of difficulty to rank for the keyword: Green = Easy, Yellow = Average and Red = Hard. The same color indicators are used also for the various metrics that are displayed for Google’s Top 10 results, for example a high Domain Authority, will be displayed in red fonts, whereas a low Domain Authority will be displayed in green.

You can click on the Show Advanced Results button in order to load more metrics, including the domain age, word count, number of outbound links and whether or not the keyword is in the page title, meta description and headings.

Additionally, under the table (when Show Advanced Results is selected), you will be able to see a Google Trends graph that shows the level of interest over time, as well as some search terms that are related to the keyword you have entered.

Click on the 3-dot icon at the right hand side of each result and you will be given the option to further analyze the specific page using our other tools:

What Ranks Where - See what other keywords it ranks for;
Site Explorer - Get even more metrics and stats; and
Backlinks Explorer- Analyze the backlink profile in more depth.

You can export this data in the form of a CSV, PDF, XLS or ODS file, simply by clicking on the 3-dot icon at the top of the search results.
